Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has loaned goaltender Michael Ouzas to their ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals. In addition, the Marlies have released Mark O'Leary, Brian Ihnacak and Shawn Snider from their try-out agreements.
Ouzas, 22, led the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds men's hockey team to consecutive National Finals - winning gold in 2007 and capturing silver in the recent 2008 event. Last season, the Hamilton, Ont. native posted a 20-1-0-1 record and a 1.91 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.
O'Leary, 23, played in 16 games last season for the Grand Rapids Griffins collecting four points (three goals, one assist) and 29 penalty minutes. Prior to joining the Griffins, the 5'10, 195-pound left wing skated in 55 games for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees registering five goals and 15 assists and 73 penalty minutes.
Ihnacak, 23, played in 37 games last season for HK 31 Kezmarok in Slovakia collecting 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) and 77 penalty minutes. The 6'0, 190-pound centre played four seasons at Brown University from 2003-07 collecting 28 goals and 38 assists in 103 games.
Snider, 27, played in 35 games in 2007-08 for the Orebro HK Vipers in Sweden collecting 43 points (21 goals, 22 assists) and 77 penalty minutes. The Fergus, Ontario native was the fourth leading scorer on Orebro last season and ranked second on the team with a plus-35 rating.
