LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws welcomed their 400,000th fan of the 2008 season to FirstEnergy Park on Wednesday, making it the eighth straight season that Lakewood has eclipsed that mark. The 6,871 fans in attendance for Wednesday's contest also pushed the BlueClaws into first in both the overall and average attendance race.

The BlueClaws are averaging a league-best 6,259 fans per game through the first 65 openings at FirstEnergy Park this season. They have now drawn a total of 406,815 fans, nearly 1,000 more than second- place Greensboro through the same number of games.

"Bringing over 400,000 people to FirstEnergy Park for an eighth straight season is something we are very proud of," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "We know that this accomplishment would not be possible without the tremendous support of the entire community."

The year has been highlighted by 13 crowds of over 8,000 fans and two crowds over 9,000. On July 25, 9,527 fans were on hand to watch the BlueClaws take on the Kannapolis Intimidators for Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Night, making it the second largest crowd in the eight-year history of the BlueClaws. The BlueClaws also lead the state of New Jersey in attendance for the eighth straight year.

Lakewood still has two home games remaining to close out the 2008 regular season. The BlueClaws will welcome the Hagerstown Suns (Washington Nationals) on Thursday and Friday, with both games starting at 7:05. Post-game fireworks will follow the final out on both days, thanks to Toyota and Scion World of Lakewood.

Tickets are still available to both games online at BlueClaws.com, over the phone at (732) 901-7000 and at the FirstEnergy Park ticket office.
