Grossman powers X's past Hogs 11-4

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX -- Chris Grossman led the offense with 4 RBIs, including a 2 run homer, and Alexander Francisco led the defense with his 11th win of the season as the Sioux City Explorers moved back into sole possession of first place with a 11-4 win over the AirHogs at Quick Trip Park on Friday night.

Alex Llanos starting the scoring with a 2 run HR in the first inning off of Grand Prairie starter Justin Garcia (8-4). Grossman then drilled a 2 run blast in the 3rd inning to give Sioux City a 4-0 lead.

The Explorers blew it open with 6 runs in the 4th inning, sending 11 men to the plate. Walter Young had a 2 run single, Grossman had a RBI hit, Chad Gabriel had a 2 run single and Derek Schermerhorn had a RBI base hit. Sioux City would add 1 more run in the 5th on a sac fly by Grossman and had a 11-0 lead.

Francisco had a no-hitter for 4 1/3 innings and Grand Prairie would finally crack the scoring column in the 7th on a RBI single to Noel Trevino. Francisco (11-1) went 7 innings, allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits, walking 3 and tying a career high with 9 strikeouts. Francisco is 1 away from David Glick (22) for 2nd in X's career history in wins.

Llanos tied a league record, walking 4 times, becoming the third Explorer (Jason Tuttle, Dustin Jones) to accomplish the feat this season. Llanos hit his 8th HR of the season, going 1-2 with 2 RBI and 3 runs. Grossman went 2-3 with 4 RBI and hit his 7th HR of the season. Young went 2-4 with 2 RBI and now has 25 RBI in 19 games for Sioux City.

Sioux Falls lost to Lincoln 10-2 so the Explorers are back in sole possession of first in the North with a 1 game lead over the Canaries and a 2 game edge over the Saltdogs. The X's will look to sweep the AirHogs on Saturday night and will send Paige Dumont (5-4) to the mound while Grand Prairie will counter with Jose Cordero (3-3).
