Diablos routed to begin weekend

Fort Worth poured on 13 hits en route to an 8-2 victory over the Diablos on Friday night from LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX.

The Fort Worth Cats pounded out three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Pat O'Sullivan, Jake Gautreau and John Allen had RBI doubles propelling the Cats to a 3-0 lead.

Fort Worth took a six-run lead in the bottom of the third inning. Nelson Teilon hammered a three-run homer over the left field wall for the 6-0 edge.

The Diablos got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh. Willie James had an RBI on a ground out and Eric Garcia had a run-scoring single making it a 7-2 game.

The Cats tacked on another run in the bottom of the seventh. Nelson Teilon picked up his fourth RBI of the contest with a single for the 8-2 deficit.

Joel Kirsten (8-3) is the winner. He threw eight innings allowing two runs off of eight hits with a season high nine-strikeouts and one walk.

David Whigham (6-7) is the loser. He threw six innings allowing four earned runs off of 10 hits with three walks and one strikeout.

The Diablos and Cats will close out their three game series on Saturday night at 6:05 PM MST. Derek Bennett will start for the Diablos against Dan Grybash for the Cats. The game will be carried live on ESPN Radio 1380 AM as well as at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
