Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

The Shreveport Sports set an American Association record for the most losses in a season (63) in dropping a 2-1 decision to Pensacola Friday at Fair Grounds Field. The Sports wasted an outstanding pitching performance by Matt Pilgreen, getting only his third start of the season. Pilgreen pitched seven innings, gave up four hits, two runs, but took the loss. Brandon Sing gave Pensacola a 1-0 lead in the second inning with his league leading 21st home run of the season. The Pelicans added a run in the third to make it 2-0. Shreveport got on the scoreboard in the eighth inning when Michael Lewis led off with a single and scored on a triple by Wade Robinson. Vince Blue then walked, but with runners at first and third and nobody out, Terrence McClain, Tommy Bryant and Richard Quihuis-Bell all struck out to end the threat. The Sports and Pensacola will close out the three game series Saturday at 7:05 at Fair Grounds Field with the broadcast on 710 AM, KEEL.
