
Explorers Walk Past AirHogs

Grand Prairie, TX (08.15.08) - The Grand Prairie AirHogs lose their second game in a row against the Sioux City Explorers, 11-4 on Friday Night. The AirHogs allowed 12 walks on the night. Grand Prairie's magic number to clinch the playoffs has shrunk to just one, with El Paso falling to Fort Worth on Friday.
In the top of the first, Alex Llanos blasted a two run homer to right putting Sioux City up 2-0.
Chris Grossman grabbed the Explorers their second two run homer of the game in the top of the third for a 4-0 lead.
Sioux City put six more runs on the board in the top of the fourth. Walter Young earned a two run RBI single, Grossman hit a RBI single to right, Chad Gabriel also grabbed a two run RBI single, and Derek Shermerhorn got a RBI single to left putting the Explorers in double digits 10-0.
In the top of the fifth, the Explores placed their 11th run on the board with Grossman grabbing a RBI.
Grand Prairie finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh with Noel Trevino earning a RBI single to left for a 11-1 score.
The AirHogs earned three more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Derek Nicholson smashed a three run homer to right.
Justin Gracia (8-4) earned the loss pitching 6.0 innings with ten hits, eleven runs, six walks, and three strikeouts.
Alexander Francisco (11-1) earned the win pitching 7.0 innings with four hits, one run, three walks, and nine strikeouts.
Grand Prairie will end their series against Sioux City Saturday, August 16. It will be the AirHogs last home game of the regular season.
