Joynt(ing) Forces With The Wizards

Fort Wayne, IN - Infielder Brian Joynt will join the Fort Wayne Wizards infield today as outfielder Brad Chalk was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Wednesday, May 21.

Chalk, the San Diego Padres second round selection out of Clemson University last year, last appeared in a game for the Wizards on May 17 against the South Bend Silver Hawks, the Midwest League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Joynt is expected to be in uniform today when the Wizards host the Great Lakes Loons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Dodgers, at 4:00 PM in the second game of their four-game series.

Joynt was selected by the Padres in the 29th round of last year's Major League Baseball Draft out of Oklahoma City. He split time between the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League and the Arizona League Padres. Joynt hit a combined .195 in 41 games, with seven doubles, 15 runs batted in and three stolen bases.

Chalk is currently hitting .254 with 10 RBI, three doubles, a pair of triples and seven stolen bases.

Wizards Homestand Notes

The Wizards will play host to the Loons at 2:00 PM on Sunday with a post-game autograph session sponsored by Fifth Third Bank and the series concludes with a Memorial Day Special at 4:00 PM on Monday with a Dollar Day, featuring $1.00 hot dogs, soft drinks and beer.

Following an off-day on Tuesday, the Wizards will host the Dayton Dragons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, starting at 6:00 PM on Wednesday. The two teams will meet at 6:00 PM on Thursday and again at 7:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. Both Friday and Saturday will feature post-game fireworks shows, the first two of 12 scheduled for the 2008 season.
