Bees Score Just One Run as Snappers Sweep Doubleheader

Burlington, IA (May 24, 2008) - The Burlington Bees played their third doubleheader of the season Saturday night and were swept by Beloit. The Bees did not score a single run in the first game en route to an 8-0 loss while the Bees lost 3-1 in game two.

In game one, Danny Duffy got the start and was pretty good early on. He allowed just one hit in the first two innings with five strikeouts. He was not as strong after that as he ended up allowing five runs in four innings of work to take his second loss of the season. The Bees only registered three hits in the contest. Beloit led 2-0 going into the fourth inning but scored three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.

The second game was much closer between the two teams. Juan Abreu got the start and struggled from the beginning. In 2.1 innings of work, Abreu walked five batters. In all, he allowed three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and five walks. Henry Arias came in and got out of a jam inducing a double-play and was very good throughout and he allowed just one hit in 3.2 innings of work. The only run of the day for the Bees was scored by Adrian Ortiz on a Mike Moustakas RBI ground-out.

The Bees and Snappers are set for a day-game on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees return to Community Field on Sunday June 1st to begin a four-game series with Clinton.
