Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

VICTORIA SALMON KINGS GAME NOTES Wednesday, November 21st at Idaho Steelheads

SALMON KINGS HEADLINES: The Salmon Kings went into Saturday night's game versus the Stockton Thunder having won four straight games overall and six in a row at home. The Thunder and Kings were meeting for the third time in four nights on Saturday. Both teams had chances in the first period, but it was the goaltenders that were the main attraction as both Victoria's Billy Thompson and Stockton's Glenn Fisher made big saves. The two teams went to the locker rooms knotted in a scoreless tie at the end of one period. The Thunder were first to capitalize on an odd man rush when a spinning Brandon Schwartz knocked a rebound past Thompson to give Stockton a 1-0 lead. A hardworking shift by the line of Wes Goldie, Kiel McLeod and Jordan Krestanovich resulted in the Kings first goal as Krestanovich was able to knock a loose puck by Fisher to tie the game at 1-1. The third period solved nothing as the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. In overtime Kings' rookie defenseman Dylan Yeo picked off the puck and went hard to the net. Showing patience he held onto the puck, forcing Thunder goalie Fisher to go down. Yeo then circled the net and slid in the wraparound for the overtime winning goal. Victoria went 0/3=0% with the man advantage and Stockton went 0/3=0%. Stockton outshot Victoria 42-29.
