
Hu and Shoe Headed Back to the Futures Game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Suns shortstop Chin-Lung Hu and manager John Shoemaker have been selected to participate for the World Team in the 2007 XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 8 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
The XM All-Star Futures Game will feature the top Minor League prospects competing against each other as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday on July 8, 2007 at 1:00pm. The prospects will be broken up into a U.S. Team and a World Team. The game is scheduled to be televised live on ESPN2.
Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the 30 Major League cluba, MLB.com and Baseball America, selected the 25-man rosters for both clubs Each Major League organization is represented and the World Team features players from 11 different countries and territories. Players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to participate.
Hu has been highly-touted as a prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization since his arrival from Taiwan in 2003 and is in his second season with the Suns. Hu played for Chinese Taipei in the inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006 and led Taiwan to a second place finish in the 2002 World Junior Championship Tournament. This season, Hu is among the Southern League leaders in batting average and currently leads the league in hits, doubles and is second in extra-base hits.
"Shoe" is in his fourth season at the helm of the Suns and has proven himself as one of the most successful and popular managers in Suns history. He led the Suns to their second Southern League Championship in 2001 while earning Manager of the Year honors. Shoemaker returned to the team in 2005 when his team won yet another League Championship and was named 2005 Minor League Team of the Year by Baseball America. In 2006, Shoemaker earned his second Manager of the Year honors while leading the Suns to a franchise-record 86 wins. Shoemaker has spent his entire baseball career in the Dodgers organization since signing in June 1977.
