
Purdom Sinks Smokies in Extras, 2-1

Zebulon, NC- Carolina scored first in the fourth to take a 1-0 lead. Jonny Raburn singled then stole second which resulted in a throwing error and he moved to third. Chase Lambin sent a sacrifice fly to center to score the run.
The Smokies evened the score with a run in the seventh. Matt Craig scored on an error by third-baseman Lee Mitchell.
The game remained tied with Tennessee missing opportunities to go ahead in the eighth, ninth and eleventh. They would strained five on base collectively those innings.
Carolina then won it with a John Purdom single in the eleventh. Purdom drove in the winning run in Carolina's 5-4 over Tennessee in the eleventh inning on June 10th as well.
Tennessee and Carolina will continue the series Tuesday Night at Five County Stadium as Mark Holliman (7-5) will go for the Smokies and James Russ (0-2) pitched for Carolina.
The Smokies return to Smokies Park on Saturday June, 30th to take on the Mississippi Braves. Reggie will be on hand to entertain the audience. Tickets are available by calling 286-2300 or visiting smokiesbaseball.com
