
BayBears Win 5-4 Behind Vasquez's Effort

MOBILE, AL - The BayBears won their second straight game Monday afternoon, beating West Tenn 5-4. Esmerling Vasquez (4-3) was the winning pitcher, striking out a team-high 11 opposing batters, in seven innings of work. Vasquez allowed just one run on four hits for the win.
The BayBears scored in the first inning, when Justin Upton grounded into a double play with a runner at third base. After West Tenn scored once in the third to tie it, Wilkin Castillo hit an RBI ground ball to shortstop to give the BayBears a lead they would never relinquish. Castillo was 3-for-4 with three RBI's, and Emilio Bonifacio was also 3-for-4 atop Mobile's lineup.
Mike Wilson's three-run home run in the ninth inning put the BayBears lead at just one, but Mark Rosen came in to get the final two outs of the game for his third save. Abe Woody pitched a scoreless eighth inning, allowing just one hit.
The BayBears and West Tenn play Tuesday at 7:05 PM, with RHP Matt Green (7-3) starting for the BayBears against West Tenn LHP Robert Rohrbaugh (7-5).
