Bulls Pitching Staff Keeps The Indians Bats Quiet Again

Durham, NC - After surrendering just one hit the previous night, the Bulls pitching staff kept the Indians bats quiet again as they allowed just four hits in a 2-1 victory over Indianapolis on Friday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Both of the Bulls runs came in the first three innings. With two outs in the bottom of the first, Justin Ruggiano walked and Joel Guzman followed with a double to drive Ruggiano home for the Bulls first run. Michel Hernandez made the score 2-0 when he hit his first home run as a Bull in the third inning. LHP Michael Tejera (3-1) left after five innings, surrendering the two runs, six hits, and one walk with six strikeouts.

The Indians lone run came in the top of the fifth inning off RHP Jae Kuk Ryu (1-0) when Einar Diaz hit a two-out double to score Russ Johnson from third. Ryu, who was making his pitching debut at the DBAP, earned his first win as a Bull and allowed just the one run with three hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts. LHP Jeff Ridgway pitched the sixth and seventh innings, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts, and RHP Seth McClung pitched a perfect eighth inning. RHP Chad Orvella earned the save with a perfect ninth inning and two strikeouts.
