TONIGHT'S GAME: The second of a four game series and the sixth of eight meetings, the second of four at McCoy Stadium. Richmond is 1-4 vs. the Red Sox, 0-1 on the road. The Braves have lost eight straight games at McCoy Stadium. Their last win at Pawtucket was June 24, 2005. The 31st of 46 games vs. the North Division and the 15th of 22 on the road. Richmond is 15-15 vs. the North, 9-5 on the road. The second of an eight game road trip. Richmond is in first place in the South Division by five and a half games over Durham.

LAST NIGHT'S GAME: The Red Sox beat the Braves 4-2 at McCoy Stadium Thursday. The Sox limited the Braves to just four hits to take the series opener. The Red Sox took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI ground out by Jacoby Ellsbury. Pawtucket erupted for three runs in the fourth inning. Michael Tucker chased two runs home with a single and Ellsbury smacked an RBI double to give the Sox a 4-0 lead. The Braves ended a 15 inning run draught in the sixth when Graham Koonce knocked in a run with a ground out. The Braves produced a run without a hit in the eighth thanks to a pair of walks, a wild pitch, and a Brayan Pena fielder's choice that cut the Sox lead to 4-2. David Pauley tossed six innings to earn the win. Dan Smith took the loss. Tavis Hughes notched a save. Ellsbury and David Murphy had two hits each for the Sox.

ON THE COMEBACK TRAIL: RHP Lance Cormier joins the Braves on a MLB rehab assignment for the second time this season. Cormier appeared in one game for Richmond (5/28 @ Rochester) and tossed 6.2 scoreless innings. He was activated from the DL following that outing and appeared in two games with Atlanta before returning to the DL. As a rehab assignment, Cormier does not count against the Braves 24 man roster limit. Cormier is scheduled to toss two innings tonight. He is slated to be followed by Ryan Basner. The Braves have now made 64 roster moves in 64 games.

LEADERS OF THE PACK: The Braves lead the International League in pitching with a team ERA of 3.25. The Braves also lead in shutouts (eight) and in fewest home runs allowed (36). Richmond is tied for third in stolen bases (65). Gregor Blanco is tied for the league lead in runs scored (46). The Braves lead the IL in percentage of opponents caught stealing (42-94 .447) and Corky Miller leads IL catchers in caught stealing percentage (25-53 .472). T.J. Bohn is tied for fourth in outfield assists (6).

PICK IT: The Braves have committed just one error in their last eight games. Over that span they have turned seven double plays, racked up three outfield assists, thrown out five runners stealing, and picked two runners off. Martin Prado has not committed an error at second base this season in 197 chances. Braves outfielders have 17 assists this season. Richmond had 21 outfield assists all of last season. Three Braves (T.J. Bohn with six, Doug Clark, and Gregor Blanco with four each) are among the 16 IL outfielders with four or more assists this season.

PORTSIDE PROBLEMS: Richmond is 7-12 vs. left-handed starting pitchers this season. They are scheduled to face three consecutive left-handed starters in the next three games. Richmond is hitting .247 vs. lefties and .267 vs. right-handers.

QUIET BATS: Richmond has just 14 hits in the last three games. The Braves are hitting .154 over that span. The Braves have scored six runs and have three extra-base hits over the last three games. No Brave currently has a hit in more that two straight games.

NUMBER CRUNCHING: Jeff Bennett has tossed 21 straight scoreless innings over eight appearances (including one start). Richmond is 17-3 when Iker Franco starts at catcher. The Braves are in a stretch of 25 straight games vs. North Division clubs. The Braves are in a stretch of 56 out of 59 games vs. American League affiliates. The Braves suffered their first Thursday road loss of the year last night (now 3-1).

THE PEN: Braves relief pitchers have a win-loss record of 22-7 and have 16 saves in 20 opportunities. All four "blown saves" came in the sixth inning. Richmond is 30-0 when leading after seven innings. Eight different Braves pitchers have earned saves this season.
