GREENVILLE, SC - Greenville entered Saturday night's action averaging ten runs per game in its previous five contests. That figure crept higher after a 14-1 thrashing of the Asheville Tourists at Municipal Stadium, giving the Bombers a fifth win in their last six games.

Banging out 14 hits, the Bombers have now scored 64 runs in their last six games in running their Southern Division second-half leading record to 7-3.

While the bats again provided the muscle, starter Matt Goodson (6-4) remained hot as well. The righthander won a fourth straight decision, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings. He chalked up five strikeouts without issuing a walk.

Early on, Goodson battled Asheville starter Franklin Morales (2-2) scoreless through the first four innings. The Tourists then claimed the lead on a fifth inning solo home run to right field by Justin Nelson, his second of the series and twelfth of the season.

The lead did not last long.

The Bombers proceeded to send 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fifth, chasing Morales as they scored seven times. Christian Lara tied the game with one-out RBI single. Jeff Corsaletti followed with a run-scoring ground single to right field to put Greenville ahead, 2-1.

Designated hitter Claudio Arias capped the rally with a bases-loaded, two-run single that turned into a four-run play thanks to a Morales throwing error trying to throw behind a runner at third base. His throw sailed to the left field corner, plating John Otness and Arias to make it 7-1.

Greenville blew the game wide open in the seventh on the strength of a five-run rally keyed by Logan Sorensen's towering three-run homer to right field, his third of the season.

The Bombers hit the road Monday, opening a four-game series and eight-game trip at Rome. Lefthander Mike Rozier (4-3) will pitch in the 7:00pm contest.
