Power winning streak reaches three

Charleston, WV (JUNE 12, 2005) – The West Virginia Power and Lakewood BlueClaws finished a suspended game on Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park the ended after 15 innings in a 9-8 Power victory, and they played a full nine-inning game afterwards, which resulted in a 5-0 Power victory. The two victories brought the Power winning streak to three, which matches their season high.

The first game was picked up in the bottom of the eleventh inning tied at 7-7. In the top of the 14th inning Josh Brady snapped the tie with a two out, RBI single to give the Power an 8-7 lead. The BlueClaws tied the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the 14th inning on Doug Gredvig's solo shot. The Power struck again in the top of the 15th inning when Hasan Rasheed delivered a clutch two out, RBI single which eventually led to a Power victory.

In the second ball game Yovani Gallardo and Mark Rogers pitched an absolute gem. Gallardo and Rogers combined to pitch the third shutout for the Power this season. The Power took a 1-0 lead on Will Lewis's RBI single that scored Hernan Iribarren in the bottom of the third. The Power added four insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Grant Richardson drove in the first run on an RBI single, Josh Brady avoided a double play by reaching on a fielder's choice to drive in the next run, and Carlos Corporan knocked in the final two runs with a single.

In game one Dave Johnson (3-1) earned the victory and Nate Johnson (5-3) obtained the loss. In game two Yovani Gallardo (1-3) earned the victory, Mark Rogers earned his first save of the season and Derek Griffith (2-5) obtained the loss. The Power improve to 23-41 with the wins and the BlueClaws move to 21-43 with the losses.

The Power will continue the series against the BlueClaws on Monday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Power will throw right-handed pitcher Brian Montalbo (1-2, 5.30) and the BlueClaws will counter with right-handed pitcher Maximo Delacruz (2-7, 4.78). The first pitch will be delivered at 7:05 PM.
