Kannapolis, NC – For the second straight night Columbus beat up a Kannapolis all star left hander touching Ray Liotta for eight runs (three earned) on seven hits in the third leading to an 11-7 Catfish win Sunday afternoon at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.

Liotta (4-3) took the loss in his shortest outing of the year going just 2.2 IP allowing 8 runs, 3 earned, on eight hits while walking none and striking out three. Steve Nelson earned his first win of the year. Carlos Alvarez pitched the final three to grab his second save.

Columbus sent 12 men to the plate in the third. The I's made two errors in the innings while the Catfish got eight runs on seven hits with only three leaving the infield.

Kannapolis got three back in the bottom of the inning, but stranded the bases loaded. The I's scored three more in the fifth on Josh Hansen's 12th homer of the year and an RBI double by Adam Ricks.

Kannapolis and Columbus will play again tomorrow evening starting at 7:05 pm. RHP Jack Egbert (4-3 3.02) takes on Brandon Weeden (2-4 4.00). Tickets for the final game of this eight game home stand are still available by calling 704.932.FANS or online at intimidatorsbaseball.com.
