Hagerstown Suns News Release

Lexington, KY:The Lexington Legends magic number to clinch the Northern Division's first half title shrunk to three on Sunday when they won 5-0 over the Suns, and Delmarva beat Lake County. Any combination of three Lexington wins and or three Lake County/Hagerstown losses would give the first half to the Legends, who are up three games on both teams with six to go.

Jim Barthmaier (6-1) completely shut down the Suns offense over six shutout innings, allowing just a third inning single to Carlos Gomez. The Suns (37-27) didn't get a baserunner to second base until one out in the ninth, when Russ Triplett doubled. Lexington (40-24) has now won five in a row, and 11 of 14. The Suns, however, have picked a bad time to go on their first four game losing streak of the season, and have lost six of seven.

It was the second time the Suns had been shutout this season, both by the Legends. Hagerstown was held to just those two hits, tying their lowest output of the year.

Monday at 7:05pm the Suns will throw Matt Durkin against Lexington's RHP Ryan McKeller.
