Two Catfish Players Named to SAL All-Star Squad

Columbus, GA – Columbus Catfish RHP Blake Johnson and 2B Travis Denker were named to the South Atlantic League Southern Division All-Star team. The 46th annual South Atlantic League All-Star game will be played at Lake Olmstead Park in Augusta, GA on June 28th.

Johnson, a second round draft selection in 2004 out of Parkview Baptist High School in Baton Rouge, LA, has compiled a 3-3 record for the Catfish this season with a team leading 2.92 earned run average. Earlier this season Johnson pitched 20 consecutive scoreless innings from April 27th through May 14th. In his past six starts, Johnson has allowed just three earned runs in 35.2 innings pitched.

Denker, who was a 21st round selection out of Brea Olinda High School in 2003, is batting .267 with 7 home runs, 30 runs batted in and a team high .441 slugging percentage and .408 on base percentage. This season Denker is leading the South Atlantic League in walks with 48.

The Catfish continue their eight-game road trip tonight at 7:05pm against the Kannapolis Intimidators (Chicago White Sox). The game can be heard on WDAK-540 am beginning at 6:55. The Catfish return home on Thursday, June 16th at 7:00pm to take on the Rome Braves. On Friday, June 17th the game against Rome will follow with a spectacular fireworks display.
