Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Kannapolis, NC – Following an hour and a half rain delay, the Crawdads topped the Intimidators 2-1 in a game dominated by pitching. RHP Blair Johnson (1-0) took the victory tossing six innings of one run ball, working around two hits while walking two and striking out three. Dustin Craig came on with two hitless innings of relief. And Felipe Garcia earned his second save of the year by retiring the Intimidators in order in the 9th for a 2-1 Hickory win.

The Crawdads took an early lead when I's starter RHP Lucas Harrell allowed Mike Hofius to lead off the second with a single. Harrell hit Antonio Sucre with the next pitch. Then following a strike out AJ Johnson reached on an error by Kannapolis second baseman Boomer Berry. With the bases loaded and one out, Hickory scored its first run when Hofius came to the plate on a catcher's balk by I's backstop Wally Rosa. Harrell settled down to retire the side without allowing another run.

Kannapolis tied the game in the bottom of the second when David Cook doubled home Josh Hansen. The I's would not muster another run stranding four runners in the game. Hickory drove in the eventual winning run when Dan Schwartzbauer hit a sacrifice fly to right driving in Johnson from third.

Hickory moves to 6-10 on the year. Kannapolis is 9-7. Game 3 will be followed by a fireworks show on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05. All Intimidators games can be heard on www.intimidatorbaseball.com.
