Rome GA- The Rome Braves continued the winning streak defeating the Columbus Catfish 8-3 Friday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of 3,729 fans.
The Braves got on the board right away. In the first inning, JC Holt reached second on a two base error and later scored on another error giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth the Catfish struck back. Gabriel Gutierrez led off the inning with a walk and scored on a Brandon Carter double tying the game at 1-1. Jamie Hoffman then tripled scoring Carter from second giving Columbus the lead 2-1.
The Braves added three runs in their half of the fifth. The inning began with a single to right from Dean White. Carl Loadenthal followed with a double, and Matt Young reached on a walk. JC Holt then cleared the bases with a triple to give Rome a 4-3 lead.
The hits kept coming even after an hour and twenty-four minute rain delay as Rome added a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh to close out scoring giving the Braves an 8-3 win.
The winning pitcher was Kelvin Villa (1-0) and the loser was Landestoy Troncoso (0-3).
