Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the signing of center Rejean Stringer (pronounced - Ray-zhawn, Stron-zhay) and the re-signing of forward Tom Nelson for the 2004-05 season.

"This is a player who scored 96 points two years ago in the ECHL", said Head Coach / General Manager Glen Gulutzan. "I played with him in Fresno and he is a guy who will bring a lot of charisma and character to our locker room. On the ice he will give us a strong presence up the middle in the center position. Tom is a player who I felt at times was one of our best players on the ice "With his focus solely on his hockey career we feel he can be a serious impact player."

Stringer comes in with plenty of points and awards throughout his career. The 30-year old center spent last season in Salzburg, Austria scoring 38 goals and 48 assists for 86 points in only 37 games played. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound center racked up 96 points and numerous awards and honors in the ECHL during the 2002-03 season with the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL. Stringer finished second in the ECHL scoring race with 37 goals and 59 assists in 72 games played. The Gravelbourg, SASK native led the league with 11 game-winning goals and helped lead Columbia to a 47-23-2 record and a trip the Kelly Cup Finals. For his hard work, Stringer was named Second Team All-ECHL and was awarded the ECHL Sportsmanship Award and the PHPA's Ironman Award. Stringer enters his third season in the ECHL with 57 goals and 115 points for 172 points in 160 games. The seventh-year pro has played 271 career games with 83 goals and 171 assists for 254 points. Stringer played with Wranglers Head Coach Glen Gulutzan and Wranglers Assistant Coach Drew Schoneck in Fresno during the 2000-01 season.

"I was very selective in what teams I wanted to play for this season and Vegas had everything I was looking for", said Stringer. "I want a championship now, not in the future and I was looking for a team that had the same thought process. I like what the Wranglers are doing with the personnel they have brought in. I played with Glen in Fresno and I know he's a good coach. Las Vegas is a great town and the Wranglers have a lot of great things going on. I am just happy to become a part of it."

Nelson re-signs with the Wranglers after posting a career-high 30 points in 43 games. Nelson's 10 goals and 20 assists helped him finish ninth best in scoring and his +14 rating was sixth best on the inaugural Wranglers squad. He becomes the sixth player to return from last season. Nelson enters his fourth season of professional hockey having played in 105 career games with 18 goals and 44 assists for 62 points, as well as posting 138 penalty minutes.

"I'm excited about returning to the city of Las Vegas and the Wranglers," said Nelson. "I am looking forward to another year at the Orleans and I hope we can build off of our success from last year and win a championship. It's a great place to play. I really like playing for Glen, he's just a great coach. I like what he is doing with this team and I am looking forward to us having another successful year."

With the addition of Stringer and Nelson, the Wranglers total roster of signed players for the 2004-05 season is now 15.
