Booker Woodfox Wins 2011 NBA D-League Showcase Three-Point Contest

South Padre Island, TX (January 12, 2011) - Texas Legends guard Booker Woodfox won the first-ever NBA D-League Showcase Three-Point Contest on Wednesday night at the South Padre Island Convention Centre.

Woodfox, a 6-1, 185-pound perimeter threat out of Creighton, won the competition with a final-round score of 32, edging Marcus Landry of the Reno Bighorns, who scored 20.

The first round began with eight players eight players, including Corey Allmond (Fort Wayne Mad Ants), Andre Ingram (Utah Flash), Chris Lofton (Iowa Energy), Scottie Reynolds (Springfield Jam), Jamar Smith (Maine Red Claws), Robert Vaden (Tulsa 66ers), along with Landry and Woodfox.

Woodfox began the contest with a round one high-score of 22. Landry (17), Ingram (16), Smith (15) all advanced into the second round as well.

In the semifinals, it was Landry coming up with the high-score of 38, but Woodfox was not far behind also getting into the final round with a 36.

In the championship Landry dropped in a score of 20, which was not nearly enough to top the 32 that Woodfox drained to bring home the hardware.

Woodfox came into the competition ranked tied for 15th in the D-League in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage as he is shooting 40.6% from beyond the arc this season. He is the second leading three-point shooter on the Legends, just behind Justin Dentmon (41.4%), however, his 28 three-pointers made leads the team.

The Three-Point Contest featured several innovations, including a moveable 'Money Rack' consisting of all 'Money' balls and increased points awarded for shots made from deeper shooting spots.
