WILLIAMS, WOODFOX VICTORIOUS IN 2011 NBA D-LEAGUE SHOWCASE SLAM DUNK, THREE-POINT CONTESTS
L.D. Williams of the Springfield Armor was triumphant in the inaugural NBA D-League Showcase Slam Dunk Contest, while Booker Woodfox of the Texas Legends won the first-ever NBA D-League Showcase Three-Point Contest at the South Padre Island Convention Centre on Wednesday night. Williams, a 6-4, 215-pound guard out of Wake Forest, scored 95 in the final round, besting the Dakota Wizards' Chris Johnson, who scored 80. Woodfox, a 6-1, 185-pound guard out of Creighton, won the Three-Point Contest with a final-round score of 32, edging Marcus Landry of the Reno Bighorns, who scored 20. Each competition will air on VERSUS on Jan. 15 and Jan. 29. The five judges of the Slam Dunk Contest were Texas Legends owner and Dallas Mavericks general manager and president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, Idaho Stampede assistant coach and former NBA player Greg Minor, ESPN.com senior writer Marc Stein and NBA.com writer Art Garcia. The Three-Point Contest featured several innovations, including a moveable `Money Rack' consisting of all `Money' balls and increased points awarded for shots made from deeper shooting spots.

It was a balanced diet for the Jam, with six players scoring at least 13 points, led by 18 from Derrick Byars in a win over Fort Wayne. Trey Johnson finished with 15 points and six rebounds for Bakersfield, while Jeremy Wise added 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Walker Russell paced Fort Wayne with 25 points.
Patrick Ewing Jr. finished with 16 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals as the Bighorns defeated the Maine Red Claws. Jeremy Lin added 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Reno. Paul Harris led Maine with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
With only two seconds left on the shotclock, 11 seconds remaining in the game and Tulsa protecting a 91-90 lead, the 66ers' Tweety Carter took an inbounds pass, turned and buried a three-pointer to extend the lead to 94-90. Moments later, Elijah Millsap hit two free throws to wrap up a 96-92 victory for Tulsa, its eighth consecutive win. Cole Aldrich had 19 points and seven blocks for Tulsa. Anthony Goods led Dakota with 22 points.
Jerel McNeal scored a game-high 27 points, and Jeff Adrien added 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Vipers, who out-rebounded the BayHawks 48-35, and shot 31-for-41 from the free throw line. Richard Roby also had 27 points, while Mustafa Shakur added 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Vipers, who won their sixth-straight game. Ivan Johnson led Erie with 25 points.
