The rains arrived at Zephyr Field in the fifth inning on Tuesday afternoon, holding out just long enough for New Orleans to put together a seven-run rally and take the finale of a rain-shortened series from the Iowa Cubs, 7-0 in five innings.

After pinch-hitter Scott Cousins walked to open the bottom of the fifth against reliever Jeff Samardzija, Danny Richar singled with one out and advanced to second on an error by left fielder Bryan LaHair, allowing Cousins to take third.

Iowa intentionally walked Logan Morrison to load the bases, but Hector Luna belted a grand slam, his team-leading 14th home run of the season, to give the Zephyrs a 4-0 lead.

Samardzija issued two more walks before Mark Saccomanno's two-out homer, a three-run shot that extended the lead to 7-0.

The rain then became too heavy to continue, giving Brian Lawrence (7-5) a complete game win, allowing just three hits.

Samardzija (5-1) walked four and allowed three hits to account for the seven runs allowed in his inning of work, taking his first loss of the year.

The Z's travel to Nashville for a three-game set beginning Thursday. The Zephyrs return home on Sunday for a 4th of July meeting with the Omaha Royals.
