New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The New Orleans Zephyrs fell to the division-leading Oklahoma RedHawks on Monday night by a score of 8-4.
The loss puts the Zephyrs nine games back from the division lead and also extends the team's streak of consecutive losses to nine.
Oklahoma starting pitcher Elizardo Ramirez (7-3) got the win after throwing eight innings and giving up only two runs on five hits.
First baseman Nate Gold hit a three-run home run in the first inning to lead the way offensively for the RedHawks. The blast was Gold's only hit of the game on a 1-3 night.
Zephyrs starting pitcher Brandon Knight (2-1) records his first loss of the season after giving up three runs on two hits in five innings of play.
The Zephyrs got a pair of homers in the game offensively, one a solo shot by catcher Raul Casanova in the second inning and a two-run homer by first baseman Michel Abreu in the fifth inning.
The Zephyrs fall behind 1-0 in the four-game home series after the loss. The teams will face off again on Tuesday in a game scheduled for 7:00 PM CT.
