Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - Whatever tension may have settled over The Dell Diamond before Monday's series opener against Albuquerque, Kyle Middleton did his best to slice through it.

In the first meeting between the Express and the Isotopes since back-to-back bench-clearing nights in Albuquerque earlier in the month, Middleton fanned seven for Round Rock on two hits over five shutout innings for his first win of the season.

Round Rock's pitching notched a season-high with 13 strikeouts and Mark Saccomanno lifted his 18th home run on the day Triple-A All-Star polling closed, helping lift the Express to a 4-1 win. J.R. Towles also went 2-for-4 with a solo homerun and two runs scored.

Middleton struck out the side in the first inning and picked up his final two whiffs in the fifth as the Express built a 3-0 lead against left-hander Chris Seddon.

With no outs and two on in the fourth, Saccomanno unloaded a shot to left field to pick up his 56, 57 and 58th RBI. An inning later J.R. Towles padded the lead with a monster shot to left that sailed just over the foul pole.

Middleton exited for the sixth, leaving the game in the hands of relievers Dave Borkowski, Jorge Sosa and Chad Paronto who combined for six more strikeouts.

Paronto fanned Mike Rabelo for the second out of the ninth and 13th strikeout of the game.

The two teams meet for Game 2 of the series Tuesday ay 7:05 p.m. at The Dell Diamond. All fans who go to the Express website (www.rrexpress.com) and print off the press release regarding ‘Tanks From the Express' will receive $4 off the price of admission.
