
Cubs rally for win

Jason Dubois launched a solo homer in the bottom of the eight inning en route to a 6-3 Iowa Cubs victory over the Omaha Royals at Principal Park on Monday night. Omaha took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an Iowa error. Mike Stodolka then gave the Royals a 2-0 advantage when he hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Jason Smith recorded an RBI in the fifth inning for a 3-0 Omaha lead over Iowa. Omaha's starter Dusty Hughes held Iowa to four hits through five innings. However, the Cubs broke out in the sixth inning. Andres Torres walked and Bobby Scales singled before Micah Hoffpauir cleared the bases with a three-run shot to tie the game, 3-3. Bob Costas was on hand to see the Iowa Cubs come-from-behind win. The score was tied 3-3 until the eighth inning when Jason Dubois homered to put Iowa ahead, 4-3. Casey McGehee and Tony Richie doubled to lift the Cubs 6-3 over the Royals. Greg Reinhard (2-0) picked up the win, throwing three innings in relief of starter Randy Wells. Wells allowed here runs (two earned) on nine hits, while striking out seven. Yasuhiko Yabuta (0-1) was tagged with the loss for Omaha, allowing all six runs in just 2.1 innings.
