Oconomowoc, WI - Ryan Zimmerman allowed one hit and struck out nine over six innings in his Canaries debut and the Sioux Falls pitching staff limited Lake Country to just two hits during a 7-0 triumph on Saturday.
Jordan Barth opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning. The 1-0 lead held until the fifth when the Birds struck for four runs. Mike Hart doubled to score Barth before crossing home plate himself on an RBI single from Hunter Clanin. Spencer Sarringar followed with a two-run triple to give Sioux Falls a five-run advantage. The Birds added two more runs in the sixth on a fielders choice and a Hart sacrifice fly.
Christian Johnson, Bret Barnett and Matt Dunaway combined for three scoreless innings of one-hit relief and struck out four. Barth and Clanin each finished with three hits as the Canaries improve to 2-0 on the season. Sioux Falls will look to sweep the three-game series when the two teams meet Sunday at 1:05pm.
