New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The New Orleans Zephyrs won their seventh game in a row to close out the homestand, beating the Memphis Redbirds 2-1.
With a 1-1 game that was tied in the fifth inning, the Zephyrs got the victory in the ninth when third baseman Brandon Larson singled to right-center to drive in right fielder Mike Vento.
The Zephyrs got another good outing from the pitching staff, giving up only five hits and one run. Reliever Santiago Ramirez (1-0) got his first win after allowing no hits in the final inning.
The win puts the Zephyrs at 7-1, their best start in history and their seven-game steak is their best since a seven-game span in 1997.
The team will go on an eight-game road trip, beginning on Friday in Albuquerque with an 8:05 PM CT start.
