New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

METAIRIE — The New Orleans Zephyrs will be giving over 5,000 tickets to the Monday August 18th game against the Iowa Cubs to over 125 local charities and non profit organizations in the Greater New Orleans Area. This marks the culmination by the Zephyrs players, coaches and staff throughout the year of giving back to the community.

"We get a tremendous amount of requests during the course of the year for donations and player appearances" states Zephyrs Vice President/General Manager Dan Rajkowski. "The Zephyrs donate merchandise, the use of Zephyr Field and have the players make appearances at local schools and hospitals. By giving tickets to the August 18th game it gives some people in the community a chance to see the Zephyrs play who normally wouldn't get the chance to see the team play."

The Zephyrs players make appearances at various hospitals and schools while Zephyrs mascots Boudreaux and Clotile make countless appearances at fairs, schools and parades. Zephyrs players and coaches talk to kids about a wide range of topics including the importance of staying in school, staying away from drugs and how to be successful in life. Countless Zephyrs merchandise is donated to non profit organizations for fund raising purposes. Zephyr Field has also been used by the Jefferson Parish School System for a pep rally to get students motivated for the L.E.A.P. and IOWA tests.

"This is our way of giving something back to the fans in the New Orleans area" states Rajkowski. "Fans in this area have supported the Zephyrs for over ten years and we would like say thanks to all of those who have supported this organization through the years."
