Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express kept one streak intact Wednesday night – and Thursday morning. Another less glamorous streak, though, was also extended. The Tulsa Drillers scored three runs in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie and take a 4-1 win on a rain soaked Dell Diamond field. The loss extended Round Rock's losing streak to six games.

The Express have now played 282 home games – regular season and postseason – but have never had a rainout. That was in jeopardy, though, as for three hours and eight minutes, The Dell Diamond was closer to a carwash than a ball field. A torrential downpour pushed the start of the game back to 10:13 p.m., and then a second delay two batters into the game lasted and extra 30 innings.

The delay didn't seem to hurt Round Rock starter Tim McClaskey, at least. McClaskey was very sharp, allowing four runs in seven innings while striking out ten. The Drillers finally got to McClaskey in the eighth when J.D. Closser led off with a triple to deep center and a bases loaded walk to Tino Sanchez gave Tulsa its first lead of the game.

Anthony Acevedo drove home a run in the bottom of the eighth, but it wasn't enough to pull out a win in a game that ended at 1:18 a.m.

Mike Bumatay (4-1) was the winner and McClaskey (3-3) got the loss.

The finale of the four game series will be Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
