OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - Jay Jackson was impressive in his New Orleans Zephyrs debut as he earned the win pitching into the seventh inning as the Zephyrs defeated the Oklahoma City Redhawks 4-2 in front of 10,163 fans at Bricktown Ballpark. The Z's have won five of their last six games to improve to 48-49.

Jackson was promoted from Class AA Jacksonville on Saturday and pitched six and two thirds innings allowed one unearned run on five hits. The 25-year-old was 3-6 with a 3.28 ERA in 14 starts in the Southern League.

The Z's scored first with a third inning run. Chris Gutierrez singled to extend his hitting streak to five games. Matt Downs ripped a two out triple and drove in his 32nd run of the season.

Oklahoma City's Jimmy Paredes singled to lead off the fifth inning. He stole second base and advanced to third on an errant throw by the catcher. Paredes would score with one out and a drawn in infield with a hot shot hit by Jose Martinez to a diving second baseman Matt Downs.

The Z's Nick Green welcomed reliever Hector Ambriz into the game with a solo home run to left center field to break the tie in the seventh. The Z's added a eighth inning run and a Kyle Skipworth ninth inning home run made it 4-1.

Oklahoma City Brandon Laird homered in the ninth inning but Chris Hatcher struckout Jon Singleton for the final out and his league leading 26th save.

Jackson earned the win and Ambriz suffered the loss. Oklahoma starter Asher Wojciechowski worked six innings allowed one run on five hits in a no decision.
