Aces Win Fourth-Straight, 4-1
July 13, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
TACOMA, Wash.-The Aces offense attacked early for the second-straight night on Friday, posting four runs through the first two innings en route to a 4-1 Reno victory over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium.
With the win, the Aces tied their season-high win streak, at four games.
Rainiers starter Chance Ruffin struggled with control in the first inning, issuing three walks and a wild pitch. He walked Juan Rivera with the bases loaded to put Reno on the board, before a sacrifice fly added another run for the Aces.
Tony Campana hit his third triple of the season in the second to plate Josh Wilson, then came around to score on a groundout to bring Reno's lead to 4-0.
Tacoma's offense could not manage a run until the seventh, until Nate Tenbrink's RBI double off reliever Bryan Woodall drove in the club's lone run. The Rainiers had the bases loaded with only one out, but the Aces squelched the threat with a groundout and a strike out to end the inning.
Shortstop Chris Owings went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in his last game of the unofficial first half of the season. Owings, along with teammate Matt Davidson, will leave the team tomorrow to participate in the SiruisXM All-Star Futures Game in New York City.
Reno starter Charles Brewer earned the win in his first start back since his second Major League stint with the D-backs. He threw 6.0 shutout innings, giving up just 5 hits and striking out three. Reliever Chaz Roe was credited with his sixth save of the season after throwing a perfect ninth inning.
The series continues Saturday night at Cheney Stadium. RHP Mike Bolsinger (3-3, 4.54 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Rainiers will counter with LHP James Paxton (5-6, 5.14 ERA). First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. PT and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
Tickets are on sale for the Triple-A All-Star events, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
