New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Caleb Stewart's two-run triple with one out in the bottom of the 10th capped a night of rallies for the New Orleans Zephyrs, who downed the Memphis Cardinals 7-6 on Thursday night in front of 11,214, the second-largest Zephyrs home crowd in Zephyr Field history.

After the Redbirds took the lead in the top of the 10th on a home run by Josh Phelps, the Zephyrs came back on singles by Anderson Hernandez and Michel Abreu. Stewart's line drive sailed over the head of right fielder Nick Stavinoha, allowing Abreu to score all the way from first, just ahead of the relay throw.

It was the second extra-inning win of the series for New Orleans, who beat the Redbirds 3-2 in 10 innings on Tuesday.

Abreu contributed three hits, including his first home run in the season, a blast over the wall in left-center field in the fifth inning to tie the game at 5-5.

Memphis took the early lead on back-to-back homers by Stavinoha and David Freese off Z's starter Ruddy Lugo in the second, and added to the lead with a three-run shot from Gabe Johnson in the fourth.

The Zephyrs rallied with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth, helped out by Redbirds starter Blake Hawksworth, who walked Victor Mendez with the bases loaded.

Tim McNab (1-0) got the win despite allowing Phelps' homer in the 10th.

The Zephyrs embark on their first road trip of the season tomorrow, opening a four-game series at Round Rock. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
