TUCSON, AZ - Tucson's Bobby Kielty drilled a solo home run to deliver the Padres a 3-2 walk-off victory in the tenth inning at Kino Stadium. The Padres rallied in the ninth inning to tie the game and scored the game winner in the tenth to deliver the Z's their fourth consecutive defeat.
The Z's scored first with a two out single from Chris Aguila in the eighth inning to score Tim Torres and give the Z's a 1-0 lead. New Orleans added a run in the ninth inning on a two out single from Vinny Rottino.
The Z's took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning and called upon the PCL leader in saves Jose Ceda. The first two batters reached base on a double and a walk. Ceda then retired two in a row before allowing a single to drop in right center field scoring a run. Eric Patterson hit a bouncing ball to first base that bounced over the glove of Z's first baseman Mike Cervenak for an error. The mis-play allowed the Padres to tie the game.
Kielty drilled a one out home run to left field in the tenth to deliver the Padres a 3-2 win. Brad Brach earned the win in relief and Darin Downs suffered the defeat.
The loss spoiled a great performance from Zephyrs starter Sean West. He worked seven innings and allowed no runs on four hits.
