Sox fall to Sounds 11-4

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox dropped game three of their four-game set with the Nashville Sounds 11-4 Friday night in front of 6,982 fans at Security Service Field.

Sox pitcher Alan Johnson (4-8, 7.97) made an unexpected start after scheduled starter Greg Reynolds was scratched shortly before first pitch. He struggled on the night allowing eight runs on 14 hits in 4.0 innings.

Already leading 3-1 in the fourth, the Sounds took control as Martin Maldonado hit a solo home run and Taylor Green plated two with a double giving Nashville a 6-1 lead. On the night, five Sounds players collected three hits including Logan Schafer who went 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI.

The Sox were unable to mount a serious threat against Nashville starter Josh Butler (7-6, 4.78) who allowed two runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings in picking up his seventh win of the season.

Ryan Rohlinger was the offensive star for the Sox going 4-for-4 with two RBI in the losing effort. With the loss, the Sox fall to 52-62 while Nashville improves to 56-58.

The Sox will look to earn a series split in the finale tomorrow night. Edgar Gonzalez (3-3, 5.14) will take the mound for the Sox against Amaury Rivas (7-11, 5.22). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM MT.
