Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- After trailing 4-0 after two and a half innings Friday, the Aces scored six unanswered runs to defeat the Memphis Redbirds, 6-4, in front of 7,904 fans at Aces Ballpark.
Andy Tracy started the comeback in the third inning with a two-run homer to the grass berm in right field-his 11th of the season-cutting the four-run lead in half. Reno then tied the game in the fourth on a solo shot by Juan Miranda and an RBI groundout by Mark Hallberg. Tracy started the go-ahead rally in the fifth with a leadoff triple, eventually scoring on a double play, before the Aces added an insurance run in the sixth.
Zach Kroenke (8-2) overcame a three-run first inning to earn the victory, dealing seven innings and surrendering just four earned runs. Kroenke struck out six and walked two, before turning the ball over to the Aces bullpen. Out of the 'pen, Sam Demel pickup up a hold with a scoreless eighth, and Ryan Cook slammed the door in the ninth for his first save with the Aces.
Memphis starter Brian Broderick (5-4) was tagged with the loss, surrendering five earned runs in six innings.
Tracy paced the Aces offense with a 2-for-4, two-RBI night, while Miranda finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Mark Hallberg added two singles and scored twice for Reno, which maintained its eight-and-a-half game lead over Tacoma in the division with the win.
