Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys won their fourth-straight game on Saturday night as Frederick defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 6-1. LHP Rick Zagone bounced back after a tough outing in Myrtle Beach earlier this week and threw six shutout innings as he picked up the win. At the plate, 2B Jonathan Schoop continued his hot streak. He went 3-for-5 in the contest with two RBIs. Over the last two games, Schoop has seven hits and six runs driven in. With the win, Frederick improved to 71-46 in 2011 and clinched their first back-to-back winning seasons since 1993-94.

Similar to Friday evening, the Keys and Dash remained scoreless entering the bottom of the third inning. Facing RHP Cameron Bayne, LF Kipp Schutz led off the home half of the third with a double down the left field line. After Bayne walked RF Steve Bumbry, Jonathan Schoop singled home Schutz for the first run of the game. Three batters later, CF Miguel Abreu made Frederick's advantage three when he doubled to left-center. Abreu's doubled scored Bumbry and Schoop.

Following Abreu's productive at bat in the third, he flashed the leather in the fourth. With two out and LF Brady Shoemaker on first, 3B Juan Silverio hit a fly ball off Rick Zagone to left-center. Abreu raced from center field and made a spectacular diving grab to end the inning.

Zagone finished up his evening after retiring the side in order in the sixth. Over six shutout innings, Zagone surrendered two hits, walked two, and struck out five. In his three wins with Frederick this season, Zagone has not allowed a run to score.

Over the past four nights, Keys starting pitchers have allowed one run in 24 innings pitched.

Kipp Schutz capped off his big night at the plate with a towering blast down the right field line in the bottom of the sixth. Schutz's sixth home run as a Key put Frederick in front 5-0 after six innings. Between Delmarva and Frederick this season, the Evansville, IN native has driven home 70 runs, tops among Orioles farmhands.

LHP Chris Petrini closed out the Keys' third-straight victory over Winston-Salem with a perfect ninth inning.

Frederick will try to complete a four-game sweep of the Winston-Salem Dash on Sunday afternoon. The Keys will turn to LHP Nick Haughian (8-5, 3.64) while RHP Jake Petricka gets the nod for the Dash. First pitch from Harry Grove Stadium is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

Come celebrate Keyote's birthday on Sunday afternoon in Frederick. Many local mascots will be attendance to celebrate Keyote's special day. Sunday also is the final meet the team of the season. From 1 - 1:30 p.m., fans can grab autographs from all the Frederick Keys! For tickets, call 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at www.frederickkeys.com.
