October 13, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - At their annual media day press conference, Indy Fuel Head Coach Scott Hillman announced that defenseman Zach Miskovic will be the club's captain for the 2015-16 ECHL season. In addition, Hillman named forward Garett Bembridge and defenseman Kevin Quick Indy's alternate captains. Miskovic becomes the second captain in team history, joining Mike Duco who served in 2014-15.
The 30-year-old Miskovic is entering his first season in Indianapolis after spending the previous season as an alternate captain for the Rockford IceHogs, the Fuel's American Hockey League affiliate. In 42 games with the IceHogs in 2014-15, Miskovic picked up eight points (2g, 6a) and 40 penalty minutes, while adding a goal in two Calder Cup Playoff appearances. The 6-foot, 183-pound blueliner has six seasons of AHL experience under his belt with Rockford, the Iowa Wild, San Antonio Rampage and Hershey Bears - winning a Calder Cup with the Bears in 2010.
A native of River Forest, Ill., Miskovic was also named the IceHogs' recipient of the 2014-15 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year Award, recognizing his tireless contributions to the Rockford community.
Bembridge, 34, enters his second year as an alternate captain for the Fuel. The forward, entering his 15th professional season, led Indy in both goals (25) and points (52) last season, earning the team's Most Valuable Player honors. In 276 career games in the ECHL, the Melfort, Saskatoon native has accumulated 251 points (117g, 134a) spread among the Fuel, Missouri Mavericks, Idaho Steelheads, Augusta Lynx and Las Vegas Wranglers.
Along with Miskovic and Dave Pscznyczny, Quick is another of the Fuel's veteran offseason additions to their blue line. The 27-year-old rearguard has 362 games of professional experience spent in the AHL, ECHL and EIHL (UK), in addition to six games played in the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2008-09. Prior to serving two years as captain of the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, the native of Buffalo, N.Y. won a Kelly Cup with the Florida Everblades in 2012.
The Fuel will open their 2015-16 ECHL season this Friday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum when they take on the Toledo Walleye. Fans can arrive early to take in a pregame Fan Fest beginning at 5 p.m., featuring live music from the Hunter Smith Band, face painters, giveaways and much more.
