
Defenseman Corbett Reassigned to Komets

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Tuesday that defenseman Cody Corbett has been reassigned to Fort Wayne by their NHL affiliate Colorado.
Corbett, 21, made his pro debut last season appearing in 47 AHL games with Lake Erie scoring three goals and six points. Corbett skated three years in the WHL with Edmonton and claimed the WHL championship his first season of juniors in 2011-12. In 2012-13 Corbett led Edmonton defensemen with 35 assists and 42 points while adding a +38. In 2013-14 the Lakeland, Minnesota native set new Edmonton team records for goals (17) and points (61) by a defenseman in a season. Corbett also set career point totals for a blueliner with 129 points in 190 games. Corbett capped the season with a spot on the memorial Cup All-Star Team. He also collected his second WHL league championship and was a co-winner of the Oil Kings Top Defenseman award.
The Komets also announced Tuesday that they have dealt forward Alex Grieve to Alaska to complete a trade made earlier this summer for defenseman Justin Hamonic. Also, defenseman Austin Levi has been traded to Tulsa in exchange for future considerations.
The Fort Wayne preseason roster is at 25 players with today's transactions and includes 14 forwards, nine, defensemen and two goaltenders.

Home opener Oct. 17-- The 64th season of Komet hockey opens with a home-and-home series against long time rival Kalamazoo. Friday the Komets travel to Kalamazoo for the season opener at Wings Stadium at 7:30pm. The Komets return to Fort Wayne with Kalamazoo for the home opener Saturday. Pre-game ceremonies are slated to begin at 7:30pm sharp and fans are encouraged to arrive early.

Komets on the air-- Both Komet games this weekend will be aired on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3 as Bob Chase launches his 63rd consecutive season announcing Komet hockey play-by-play radio rinkside. Friday's match at Kalamazoo will also be aired by MyTV in Fort Wayne. It will be the first of 12 Komet road games telecast by MyTV during the season and carried on the station's Fort Wayne digital and cable channels including digital channel 33.2 and cable channels Comcast SD 18 and 252, Comcast HD 1018, Direct TV 34, Frontier SD 9 and Frontier HD 509. 21Alive's Tommy Schoegler and Kent Hormann will again share play-by-play duties.
