Youngstown's Kuntar Selected to Team USA Roster for World Junior A Challenge

YOUNGSTOWN, OH - The Youngstown Phantom's forward Trevor Kuntar has been selected to represent the United States at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge in December, USA Hockey announced Tuesday.

Phantom's Trevor Kuntar is the second leading scorer in the USHL with 21 points. Kuntar has ten goals and eleven assists in the last sixteen games played thus far in his second season with the Youngstown Phantoms, averaging at 1.31 goals per game. The Harvard University commit was rated as a 'C'-level prospect in the NHL Central Scouting's most recent watch list on November 11.

Head coach and General Manager Brad Patterson discussed the selection of Kuntar to compete for Team USA.

"We love Trevor representing the Youngstown Phantoms. Trevor's been a tremendous player on the team and surely will represent his nation's colors in the same fashion. My expectations are that Trevor will play an integral role chasing a gold medal like he does here in Youngstown," said Patterson.

"I am extremely honored to be selected for this opportunity and am excited to be representing my country and the Youngstown Phantoms," said NHL prospect, Trevor Kuntar.

The World Junior A Challenge is in its 14th year with Team USA competing for its 13th time. The tournament is scheduled to take place in British Columbia, Canada. The U.S. will face Canada East in a pre-tournament game on December 5th, with the opening competition being on December 7th. To see the remaining tournament schedule, please click here.
