Frank Castillo turned in one of the finest pitching performances in Revolution history, and Keoni De Renne went 4-for-5, as the Revs beat the Road Warriors, 7-1, in front of 4,516 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium Saturday night. The Revs are now 15-7 in the second half and hold a one-and-a-half game lead on the Somerset Patriots for first place in the south division. The Road Warriors fall to 8-15.

Ian Bladergroen hammered a two-out solo homer to right in the first inning for the Road Warriors, spotting the visitors the early 1-0 lead. Beginning with the final out of the first inning, however, Castillo went on to retire a team-record 14 straight batters, and 20 of the next 21 he faced. The only batter who reached during that span was Travis Ezi on an infield single. Castillo (5-4) tied his season-high with eight innings pitched, allowing just one earned run on four hits. He walked no batters, and struck out a season-high nine.

The Revs provided Castillo with all of the offense necessary for the victory with a four-run fourth inning. Joe Jiannetti highlighted the inning with a two-run triple to right. Luis Taveras also provided a sac fly, and Rayner Bautista added an RBI single off the Arch Nemesis in left.

Three more scored in a bat-around eighth inning. Kazunori Tanaka ripped an RBI single to left, Nate Espy drove in a run on an infield single up the middle, and Jason Aspito lifted a sac fly to center.
