
Bridgeport scores in final five innings to snap Ducks win streak

(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish on Saturday 8-2 in front of a past-capacity crowd of 6,217 at Citibank Park.
The night looked promising for Long Island early on after Jose Offerman homered to lead off the bottom of the first and give the Ducks an early lead. But Steve Hine would double in the second and Quinton McCracken drove him in from third with a sacrifice fly. Bridgeport took the lead in the fifth with three straight RBI singles. The Bluefish tacked on single runs in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth to tack onto their total, while Norm Hutchins drove in the Ducks' only other run on an RBI single in the fifth.
Lance Davis (5-1) was dealt his first loss of the season, going five and two-thirds innings and allowing five runs on nine hits. Manny Ulloa (1-0) won in his season debut for the Bluefish, working five and one-third inning and giving up two runs on five hits. Nick Bierbrodt and Eddy Ramos combined to shutout the Ducks over the final three and two-thirds innings.
The Ducks continue a nine game homestand on Sunday with the finale of their three-game series against Bridgeport. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. The gates open at 4:05 p.m., and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive 2007 team card sets, courtesy of Home Club of America. Bethpage Federal Credit Union will also sponsor a pregame autograph session and Kids Run the Bases after the game.
