Lancaster Stormers News Release

The York Revolution's handling of the Lancaster pitching staff in 2010 reached another level on Friday evening as the host club scored a record 21 runs en route to a 21-8 victory over the Barnstormers at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

The loss dropped Somerset's magic number for clinching the second half to four.

It was the third time this season that York had scored at least 18 runs in a game against Lancaster, and, overall, York has scored 143 runs in 17 games to lead the season series, 14-3.

The Revs put four on the board against Wayne Franklin (2-4) in the bottom of the first. Scott Grimes clocked a leadoff homer into the left center field net. Liu Rodriguez scorched a single under Bryant Nelson's glove and Vince Harrison, in his Atlantic League debut bounced a single into right. Franklin struck out Jose Herrera, but James Shanks torched a double into left center for a 2-0 lead. Ian Bladergroen produced a third run with a grounder to first, and John Pachot gave York their fourth tally with a single smashed into left.

Undaunted, the Barnstormers fought back to tie the game. Michael Woods walked with one out in the third and moved to second on a single by Lloyd Turner. L.J. Biernbaum singled to right, scoring Woods. The rally got interrupted as Turner was thrown out around second base, but continued on its way as Nelson laced an RBI double into right center, cutting the lead to 4-2.

Reggie Taylor opened the fourth with a single flared into shallow right. He stole second and took third on a fly ball to right by Ryan Mulhern. A wild pitch by Matt DeSalvo brought Taylor home. Adam Witter continued the inning with a walk. Octavio Martinez moved Witter to second with a hit-and-run ground ball, and Woods cracked a single off DeSalvo's foot. The ball caromed past shortstop Chuck Jeroloman as Witter scored the tying run.

However, doubles by Rodriguez and Harrison quickly broke the tie. York's first nine batters in the fourth inning reached base off Franklin and Austin Hinkle as the Revolution eventually produced eight runs in the inning. The game was left to individual highlights, which included a three-run homer by Ryan Mulhern over the batter's eye in center and Josh Johnson's Atlantic League pitching debut, which did not go particularly well as he gave up four in the eighth.

Harrison and Shanks finished with four hits each while Jeroloman drove in five runs on three extra-base hits.

The series continues with a day-night doubleheader on Saturday with games at 1:00 and 6:30. Ben Fritz (3-6) will throw the first game against Corey Thurman (9-8). Ross Peeples (3-0) gets the nod in the nightcap against Kevin Angelle (0-1). Only the first game will be broadcast on FoxSports Radio, 1490, WLPA and sportsjuice.com.
