Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, NY) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 4-0 on Friday night before a past-capacity crowd of 6,604 at Suffolk County Sports Park.
Long Island cracked the scoreboard with two runs in the second inning off Crabs' starter Brandon Mann. After Willis Otanez' solo homer, Matt Padgett ripped a double into right field and later scored on a wild pitch. Javier Colina's two-run double in the fifth frame pushed the Ducks' lead to 4-0 to round out the scoring.
Ducks' starter Randy Drese (1-1) picked up the victory, tossing five shutout innings, yielding two hits, with five strikeouts. Mann (0-2) absorbed the loss, surrendering four runs (two earned) in his six innings of work. Ricardo Gomez, Kane Davis and Billy Simas tossed a combined four-shutout innings of relief, with eight total strikeouts.
With the win, the Ducks have now allowed just four earned runs in their last four contests and have matched a season-high four game winning streak
Long Island continues their three-game against the Blue Crabs on Saturday. Game time is set for 7:05 PM, with the Suffolk County Sports Park gates opening at 6:05. Daryl Harang gets the start for the Ducks against Southern Maryland's Connor Robertson.
