Yates helps Fishers over Rock Cats

New Britain, CT- New Hampshire's Kyle Yates fired eight impressive innings and UConn product Jesse Carlson finished it off as the Fisher Cats edged out the Rock Cats 3-2 on Wednesday night.

The Rock Cats took an early 1-0 lead when Brock Peterson hit a solo home run to leadoff the bottom of the second inning for the second consecutive night.

New Hampshire's Dustin Majewski matched the feat in the top of the third with a solo shot to center field to tie the game, 1-1. Aaron Matthews added an RBI single that scored Juan Peralta, who reached base on a double, to put the Fisher Cats ahead, 2-1 in the fourth inning.

The Rock Cats answered back with an RBI single by Kyle Geiger that scored David Winfree (3-for-4) in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.

In the seventh, Ryan Klosterman led off the top of the inning with a walk. He moved to third on a double by Majewski and scored on Peralta's ground out for the eventual game-winner. For the Fisher Cats, Manuel Mayorson had three hits, including a double.

Yates (7-7) finished with eight hits and two runs in eight innings. He struck two while walking none. Carlson struck out two in a scoreless ninth to pick up his sixth save.

Yohan Pino pitched well for the Rock Cats, scattering nine hits for three runs through eight innings. Pino (1-3) struck out six.
