New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

New Britain, CT- Dustin Majewski homered for the first time since June 25, and Kyle Yates went eight innings to record his first win since July 20 as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats edged the New Britain Rock Cats, 3-2, Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium.

Majewski (2-for-4, HR, 2B, RBI) drilled Yohan Pino's first pitch of the third inning over the centerfield wall for his eighth home run -the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game- that tied the score, 1-1.

New Hampshire (61-61) moved ahead, 2-1, in the top of the fifth inning with three consecutive two-out hits. Juan Peralta (1-for-4, 2B, RBI, R) doubled down the leftfield line, Manny Mayorson (3-for-4, 2B) hit an infield single and Aaron Mathews drove in Peralta with a single to left.

After New Britain knotted the game, 2-2, on Kyle Geiger's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Fisher Cats reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh when Ryan Klosterman drew a leadoff walk, Majewski doubled, and Peralta scored Klosterman with a ground out to first base.

Yates (7-7) matched a season high by working eight innings. He allowed two runs on eight hits -including a solo home run by Brock Peterson, his 13th, that gave the Rock Cats a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Yates struck out two and did not allow a walk in earning only his second victory in his last 11 starts. His seven wins match now-Toronto pitcher Jesse Litsch for most among New Hampshire starters this season.

New Britain native Jesse Carlson struck out two batters in the ninth inning to notch his sixth save in seven opportunities. It was his fourth save against the Rock Cats.

Pino (1-3) suffered the tough-luck defeat, allowing three runs on nine hits in eight innings. He struck out six and walked three.

The Fisher Cats look to win the series when they send right-hander Ismael Ramirez (1-1, 5.79) to the mound against New Britain right-hander Anthony Swarzak (3-4, 3.71) Thursday night at 7:05pm. Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network (610-AM, Manchester; 930-AM, Rochester; 1540-AM, Exeter) with Mike Murphy.

Counting Crows, Live and Collective Soul take the same stage Friday night at 6:30pm for the Rock 'N Roll Triple Play Concert at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. For tickets, call (603) 641-2005 or visit www.nhfishercats.com.
