Bridgewater, New Jersey - The New York Yankees are currently scheduling for 3B Jon Berti to commence an MLB rehab assignment with the Double-A Somerset Patriots on the road in Reading on Sunday, April 28 th . Game time is scheduled for 3:15 pm.
The Yankees placed Berti on the 10-day injured list on 4/11/24 with a left groin strain. In six games for New York before the injury, Berti was 4-for-19 with 2 R, 4 H and an RBI.
Currently in his 7 th MLB season, the Troy, MI native has a career .258 batting average with 212 R, 358 H, 63 2B, 9 3B, 23 HR, 121 RBI and 92 SB in 442 games with the Toronto Blue Jays (2018), Miami Marlins (2019-2023) and the Yankees (2024).
Berti slashed .294/.344/.405 with 53 R, 114 H, 16 2B, 3 3B, 7 HR and 33 RBI in 133 games for the Marlins in 2023.
Originally selected by the Blue Jays in the 18 th round of the 2011 MLB Draft, Berti was acquired by the Yankees in a trade with the Marlins for CF John Cruz.
He becomes the second rehab assignment with the Patriots this season, joining INF DJ LeMahieu. Berti will be the 36 th Yankee to rehab with Somerset since becoming the Double-A affiliate in 2021.
