SIOUX CITY, IA -- What a way to impress your new team? Jason Bryan broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 7th inning and the X's eventually put 5 runs on the board in the 7th to beat Lincoln 8-2 to start the 2nd half on Tuesday night at Lewis & Clark Park.

Ryan Trytten had only allowed 1 unearned run in the first 6 innings until Bryan drilled a 3-2 pitch over the center field wall to break the tie and start a 5 run inning. After Bryan's blast, Dustin Jones would fly out but Derek Schermerhorn would reach on SS Skip Adams error. Jason Tuttle would single to knock Trytten from the game. In came the lefty Vince Davis and Nick McCoola would lay down the perfect bunt for a hit to load the bases. Alex Llanos would then walk forcing in Schermerhorn for a RBI. Chris Grossman would then drill one off the wall in center for a 2 run double, scoring Tuttle and McCoola to make it 6-2. Juan Camacho would add a sac fly to make it 7-2. Sioux City would add another run in the 8th on a RBI single by McCoola to put the game away.

Earlier in the game, every time Lincoln would score the X's would answer. In the top of the first, Skip Adams would walk, move to 2nd on a Tim Layden wild pitch and score on Dustin Yount's RBI single. In the bottom of the first, McCoola would single, steal 2nd and score on Camacho's 2 out RBI single.

In the 5th, Jonny Kaplan would single with 1 out, steal 2nd and move to third on Grossman's throwing error then socre on Yount's RBI single. The X's would tie it in the bottom of the inning without the benefit of a hit. Jason Tuttle would get hit by a pitch, steal 2nd and move to third when Shawn McGill threw it into CF and score on a Trytten wild pitch.

Layden would pitch decently for the X's, going 5 1/3 IP allowing 2 runs, 1 earned on 5 hits, walking a season high 6 and striking out 2. Paige Dumont would get the win, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 2 in 1 2/3 IP, improving to 3-1. Trytten suffered the loss, falling to 3-4.

McCoola went 3-5 with a RBI and 2 runs scored. Tuttle, in his first game back since June 9, went 1-4 with a SB and 2 runs scored.

The X's start the 2nd half with a victory and will look to make it 2 in a row against Lincoln on Wednesday night.
